Hart County was formed in 1819 from portions of Hardin and Barren Counties. There are three incorporated cities in Hart County: Munfordville, which is the county seat, Horse Cave and Bonnieville.
Hart County is located just off Interstate 65 and is 72 miles south of Louisville and 105 miles north of Nashville, TN. The county offers a variety of geography from Nolin River and Lake to the west, Green River winding through the center, rolling farmland, steep knobs, and caves.
The county is filled with natural beauty and offers a variety of recreational activities. You can explore the above-ground and underground wonders at Mammoth Cave National Park, Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo, Mammoth Onyx Cave, Cub Run Cave, and Hidden River Cave and also explore the American Cave Museum. There is fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and boating on the rivers, streams, and lakes in and around Hart County. And the county hosts several festivals each year.
Hart County is an excellent place to live and work.
