City of Bonnieville

Bonnieville is a rural city located in Hart County Kentucky, rich in history, whose citizens possess a strong foundation of community spirit.  Located in Cave Country,  in South Central Kentucky right off of Exit 71 on Interstate 65. Settlers began moving in the area during the 1780’s, but the town was not established until 1849. Originally called Bacon Creek, deriving its name from the creek that ran through the settlement, its residents petitioned the legislature in 1880 to have the name changed to Bonnieville after the Scottish song, “Bonnie Annie Laurie”.  By the 1850’s the L&N railroad had been completed, giving the town the unofficial name of Bacon Creek Station.
