Community Action of Southern Kentucky

Community Action of Southern Kentucky, Inc. administers individual and community services to alleviate the causes and conditions of poverty. Our staff may manage a subsidized program, mobilize a community resource, or serve as an advocate on behalf of a program applicant to meet an apparent need. Coordinators administer services in seven areas: employment, education, housing, self-sufficiency, emergency services, community participation, and economic development to help needy families improve their living conditions. Programs offered in the Hart County office are:

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM – Helps the homeless establish housing stability through resettlement services and longer-term case management.

HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM – Assists income-eligible households with home heating costs through two components: subsidy and crisis.

CSBG GARDEN PROGRAM – Assists low income families in achieving economic self-reliance through the cultivation and preservation of homegrown produce.

SCHOLARSHIPS – Available to graduating high school seniors.

EMERGENCY FOOD & SHELTER PROGRAM – Assists families in crisis to avoid homelessness. Unemployment and poverty data determine which counties are funded each year with FEMA.
